Who runs this site
howtowriteaspeech.net runs itself and decides what happens with the small amount of data below. Questions or requests go to hello@howtowriteaspeech.net.
The planner and your draft
Your goal, audience notes, points, draft and timer results are handled by code in your own browser tab. They are never sent anywhere, and they disappear when you close or reload the page. Printing the outline happens on your device too.
What gets counted
You never need to give a name or an email address here. A small script notes that a page was opened, which site sent you, how far you scrolled, whether you started the planner and whether you tapped a link to the practice app. It adds a random ID kept in your browser, a session marker, your browser language, operating system, screen and window size, time zone, and a few signals that help tell people from automated visits.
Where it goes
These counts pass through this site's own server, which adds your browser's user agent and the country your connection comes from, and then forwards them to an analytics provider that stores them in the European Union. Your IP address travels with them so the provider can estimate your country and region. The counts help us see which parts of the page people use. They are never sold or handed to advertisers.
Cookies and browser storage
No cookies are set. Your browser keeps the random ID, a session marker that resets after half an hour without activity, your light or dark choice and, if you close it, the hidden state of the small bar at the bottom of the screen. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes all of it. If you block scripts, the page still works and nothing is counted.
Links to the app stores
Practice buttons lead to /read-aloud on this site. That address only looks at your browser's user agent: Android phones are sent to the Confidently page on Google Play with the button's position passed along, and every other device goes to the Confidently page on Apple's App Store. Nothing is stored at that step. Once you reach a store, that store's privacy terms and the app's own terms apply.
Your choices
Email us and we will delete anything linked to your random ID. Because nothing here identifies you by name, clearing this site's data in your browser is the quickest way to break the link yourself.
